Being vegan brings many magical rewards. Imbibing this compassionate way of life not only benefits the animals and environment but also blesses us with innumerable health benefits. A vegan diet is efficaciously enriched with a higher content of fiber, folic acid, vitamins C & E, and has unsaturated fat which ensures heaps of amazing positive results to our body. It ensures a healthy pumping heart and aids in keeping a tab on the spread of cancer and preventing osteoporosis.

A vegan diet guarantees a healthy heart. Vegetarians consume a substantially high number of fruits and vegetables which endows them with lower body mass indexes and helps to keep obesity at bay which is a primal risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. The antioxidizing agents and phytochemicals present in the vegan diet help to keep a tab on the rising levels of blood cholesterol and a flared-up lipid profile. It helps in partially unblocking arteries and lowers the risk of cardiovascular morbidity. A high intake of nuts, soy, and whole grains in a vegan diet ensures a bountiful supply of protein, monounsaturated fat, magnesium, and vitamin E to the body which in turn provides significant cardioprotective effects. The antioxidizing and antiproliferative agents present in nutritional powerhouse fruits and vegetables like different nuts and berries, beets, and spinach corroborates a fit heart.

The ameliorating effect of veganism on cancer is far-reaching. A vegan diet fights cancer cells and replication and rebuilds healthy immune cells. Vitamin C, flavonoids, carotenoids, and other phytochemicals in the vegetarian diet are shown to display strong protection against various cancers. The tumor inhibitory properties of allium vegetables like garlic, onion, leek, etc., provides a shield against stomach cancer and colorectal cancer. One most important factor in the decrease of cancer cells in vegans is an increased consumption of soy beverages rather than dairy beverages that increases the risk of prostate cancer. Tomatoes, pink grapefruit, and watermelon are rich in lycopene which defends the proliferation of prostate cancer. Studies have revealed that carotenoids present in carrots, pumpkins, kale, spinach, sweet potatoes, etc., reduces the risk of breast cancer.

A prolonged continuous lack of calcium in the body leads to the irreversible effects of osteoporosis which diminishes the bone density, makes the bones brittle and more susceptible to fractures. Green leafy vegetables, broccoli, lentils, beans, nuts, and seeds provide us with a substantial amount of calcium along with other nutrients that keep our bones strong. In fact, various vegan milk sourced from soy, almond, and flaxseed has more calcium content than cow milk.

Embracing veganism is a smart way of keeping oneself and the family protected from the life intimidating effects of cancer, osteoporosis, and ensures a healthy heart.
