Veganism is more a lifestyle choice than dietary. Veganism is considered to be one of the most Eco-friendly choice for a human being. Vegans are considered to be caring, nurturing people and express their collective identity through their choices in two key areas: food and fashion. The real question here is how vegans or anyone for that matter can make their lifestyle Eco-friendly.

1. Minimize Food Wastage

Food wastage can be the worst things that we as a society can do for the environment. Food wastage also leads to wastage of time and effort spent on growing the food, shipping it to market, water used to produce and all this lead to increase a region’s carbon footprint. It is nearly impossible to completely food waste but with considerable steps we can definitely reduce food wastage.

2. Use Reusable Shopping Bags

Single use plastics items such as shopping bags impact millions of animals by plastic in gestation, getting tangled in plastic bags or netting, or getting injured by sharp or otherwise injurious plastic items. It’s high time to consider ditching plastic bags and recommend more use of reusable shopping bags. It is advised to store such bags in car or handbag at all times.

3. Use Glass & Silicone Storage Containers

Just like plastic bags are harmful. Plastic containers have similar harmful effects and also are not microwave or dishwasher safe. Consider using glass, stainless steel, and silicone storage containers instead of disposable plastic. The recycling situations for such materials are more straightforward than plastics they look as good as the first time.

4. Shop Second Hand

Everyone believes in goodwill activities such as donating clothes and household items to needy people or thrift stores. Many of us grew up with this idea that second-hand shops are only for individuals who can’t afford to buy new things. Luckily, this perspective is shifting rapidly as humanity becomes more aware of how unsustainable it is to buy everything brand-new. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, right?

5. Purchase From Eco-Conscious Brands

Buying more stuff can be Eco-friendly? Sounds weird rig ht.

It’s not about purchasing more stuff but it’s about investing in items that will last long, ultimately, leading to purchasing significantly less stuff.

Purchasing from environmentally-conscious brands can set off a domino effect and send the message that people are buying and actively products that don’t damage our environment.

Our society is currently set up in a way that we don’t have to think about the consequences of most of our actions. But a price is always paid by the fish in the polluted rivers and streams, by wildlife, by our children, or by our children’s children, hence we need to take steps towards correction.
